Legacies: Ocean City Doll Doctor's Shoppe was a Labor of Love
Kay Jay's a Tradition for 5 Generations
OCEAN CITY--Some young girls have been spending
their summer asking people to help them move towards a world free of multiple
sclerosis.
After their mother was diagnosed with MS, sisters, Maggie, 10, and Jamie
Himes, 12, joined forces with their friend Jessica Butterly, 12, to raise
money to find a cure.
Twice a week, the girls faithfully set up shop outside Kay Jay's Doll Shop
along Asbury Avenue in Ocean City selling soft pretzels and water, "It's
almost like a certain type of bliss just helping and knowing that you're
helping not just one, but probably hundreds of people in the U.S.," said
Butterly.
The girls reached their goal of raising $1,000 Tuesday afternoon. With a few
more weeks left to summer, they now hope to raise even more.
